Ground School
In our Transport Canada approved syllabus the following subjects are taught in the Private Ground School:
- Meteorology
- Navigation
- Flight Planning
- Flight Instruments
- Radio and Electronic Theory
- Air Law
- Principles of Flight
- Engines, Electrical, and Ignition Systems
- Flight Operations
- Pilot Decision Making
Island
Air offers the PPL (Private Pilot License) Ground School which runs twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursday evenings from 6:30pm to 9:30pm in 9 week cycles.
In addition, Island Air schedules several Accelerated PPL Ground School courses throughout the year which run from 10am to 6pm on Saturdays and from 11am to 7pm on Sundays.
The required Ground School classes for Private Pilots is a total of 40 hours.
