Recreational pilot permit
The
Recreational Pilot Permit is for those students who wish only to fly, as the
name suggests, for personal enjoyment.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Aviation medical - category 4
- Minimum age to hold the permit - 16
- Flight instruction - Transport Canada total 25 hours
- Transport Canada written test - pass of 60%
- Practical flight test
APPROXIMATE COST:
- Flight instruction
- 15 hrs dual C-150 @ $235.00/hr. $ 3525.00
- 5 hrs solo C-150 @ $160.00/hr $800.00
- Dual cross-country 2 hours C-150 @ $235.00/hr $470.00
- 5 hrs additional time C-150 @ $160.00/hr $800.00

NOTES:
1) Recreational Pilot Permit restricts the holder to operating an aircraft with a maximum of four seats, to carry only one (1) passenger and fly during daylight hours within Canada.
2) The total cost does not have to be paid up front and can be paid “as you go”. Prices do not include applicable taxes. Each student progresses at a different rate. Thus, total times required to obtain the Recreational Pilot Permit will vary.
